We would like to see the auto-update disabled by default. This is not acceptable to us, and we suspect it is not acceptable to other developers. This puts Sun in control of OUR release schedule. ![]() Since the software prompts uneducated users to update their JRE this forces developers to make sure their software works with the latest JRE regardless of the developer's priorities. Here are the registry keys we use to disable updates: 64-bit HKEYLOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\JavaSoft\Java Update\Policy 'EnableJavaUpdate'dword:00000000. Works with the latest JRE regardless of OUR development priorities and schedule. Disable updates and push them out as you need is the best option for administering your PCs.
